About me
Art is simultaneously my quiet place and a crossfit gym for my mind and soul. It is the place I connect to God and relax into who He made me to be, which feels like the truest sense of worship.
I adore color and use it unsparingly. I am intrigued by symbolism and try to include it as often as possible. Many of my pieces resemble stained-glass windows. This is a nod to my love of color, and of small pieces uniting to make one bigger, complex image. The symbolism inherent in this concept speaks to the idea of community (many individuals making up a larger body). The very nature of stained-glass windows, which normally appear in sacred spaces, lends an air of sacredness to the subject and to life, specifically, life in community.
There is little I enjoy more than sitting down at my studio desk to paint. Living life with my never-boring twin boys and my husband who keeps me laughing gives art a run for it's money. But they know, I'm never as "good" as I can be without taking time to retreat and create.
I work primarily in watercolor as it fits my current life stage perfectly. Its tiny tubes of paint take up little space, and the work dries before little men-in-training can smear it with curious fingers or flying fidget toys.
My hope and prayer is that something here in my shop speaks to you, and that you are blessed by it as much as I was in its creation.
