The Temple
Watercolor and Ink
Original: 10" x 20"
“Do you not know thatyour bodies are templesof the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you havereceived from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”— 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Christian symbolism in “The Temple”: sun (light of the world), dove (the Holy Spirit), triangle with three interconnected circles (the trinity), flame (the fire of Pentecost), wind (reminiscent of the day of Pentecost), water (refreshment and renewal brought by the Spirit), fruit (fruit of the spirit). The fruit requires water, light and even wind to distribute seeds and help the plant to grow strong. Placing the body inside the frame of the stained glass window emphasizes the idea of the Body as a temple of the Holy Spirit.
Available as a blank notecard (3.875" x 9.25") or giclee print (7" x 17", designed to fit in a 10" x 20 frame with a 1.5" mat).
